Fundraising on the go with Siri

Find out your fundraising total at any time

Everyday life can be hectic, especially when you’re balancing work, running a household and fundraising. So, wouldn’t life be more straightforward if you could find out your fundraising total on the go, without having to log in to your device for an update? Well with Siri, you can do just that.

If you have an iPhone or iPad, you can simply ask Siri to tell you your fundraising total so you’re always kept up-to-date. Simply follow the five steps detailed below to successfully set Siri up on your smart device.

Step 1 – Download and configure the shortcut

If you haven’t already got the Shortcuts app, simply download this shortcut to your iPhone or iPad. Once you’ve opened the shortcut, add your Virgin Money Giving fundraising page URL into the URL address field (which can be found at the top of your fundraising page) and click ‘done’ on the top right of the page once you’ve done that.

Step 2 – Turn on your Siri settings

You’ll then need to turn on both ‘Siri’ and ‘Notifications’ settings on your iPhone or iPad settings.

Step 3 – Add your Siri phrase

So you can ask Siri what your fundraising total is, you’ll then need to set up your fundraising phrase. You can do this by opening your shortcut app, tapping Burger menuand then tapping Switch. You can then tap ‘Add to Siri’ to create your Siri phrase, such as ‘What’s my fundraising total?’ Then once it’s set up, just say ‘Hey Siri, what’s my fundraising total?’ and Siri will tell you.

Step 4 – Save your fundraising total in your widgets

You can also save your shortcut in your device’s widgets – the screen you see when you swipe left. Simply scroll to the bottom, click ‘Edit’ and scroll down to find ‘Shortcuts’ then tapPlus.

Step 5 – Ask Siri anytime

Now that your shortcut is all set up, you can ask Siri to tell you your fundraising total at any time – simply by saying your Siri phrase i.e. ‘Hey Siri, what’s my fundraising total?’
