Virgin Money Giving (VMG) is now closed to donations and fundraising.
After 12 years of supporting charities and fundraisers, Virgin Money Giving has now closed and we have stopped accepting donations. In that time, over 20,000 charities and more than a million fundraisers have raised over £1 billion. We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who played a part in our story.
Our website is now closed to donations and fundraising. You will now need to register on another online fundraising platform for future fundraising. There are many other online platforms available so to help you get started we have included a link to an article summarising some of the options. Platform fees, site functionality and costs vary so please give yourself time to find one that suits you.
We have refunded the registration fee to all charities who signed up to VMG since 1 January 2021.
We stopped accepting new donations on 30 November, but we’ll keep paying Gift Aid to you until 10 February. A new Gift Aid report is now available which will show donations submitted for Gift Aid, but haven’t yet been received from HMRC. You can view Gift Aid submission dates, Donation ID, VMG Claim Reference and Claim Status. You’ll have access to this report until 18 February 2022.
We submit Gift Aid claims around the middle of each month, so keep an eye out on your Gift Aid report to track progress. In the report you can see all outstanding claims.
We'll be collecting Gift Aid for you on eligible donations made up to 30 November 2021 and the last payment will be with you by 10 February 2022. This will include any monies we receive from HMRC by 31 January 2022. We’ll return any payments that we receive after 31 January 2022 to HMRC, who are aware of this.
HMRC are making every effort to process any outstanding claims and will be doing so right up to the deadline in February 2022. Please do not contact HMRC about any outstanding payment before 10 February 2022.
We are no longer taking regular donation payments. You should contact all your regular donors who currently use VMG to encourage them to continue to make their donation by an alternative method. To run a report of all your supporters so you can contact them easily, see Q&A below 'How do I access my supporter data?'

You will be able to download your reports until 18 February 2022. We recommend that you download and save these reports so you can have all your data. Reports are available on regular donors, donations we’ve paid to you and your fundraisers. You can access these by logging into VMG and using the online portal.
All events on VMG are now closed.
For all fundraising expected to continue in December and beyond, we advise you contact your fundraisers and ask them to use an alternative platform. You can find your fundraisers’ details in your Charity account through ‘Reporting’. Here you can run a ‘Fundraising pages’ report, selecting the time period to search.
Here’s how you can download your data easily so you don’t lose touch with your fundraisers and donors.
To get started:
- Log into your account.
- Click ‘Reporting’ from the main page.
- Select the type of data you need – ‘Fundraising Pages’ or ‘Donations’ will give you most of your supporter data.
- Select your date range - you can select up to three years’ worth of data in 12 month periods, or you can choose any pre-set timescales from the drop down menu.
- Download your report in CSV to give you the full data. This will give you a detailed report of your supporter data, which you can filter to get more specific details.
- If you’re unsure what some of our data items mean, you can check out our Data Glossary.
- If you need to go back further than the last three years, get in touch with our helpdesk and we’ll be happy to help.
As the data controller, we’ll retain information for no longer than is necessary and this will mean that we'll continue to hold some information for a period of time after our relationship has ended. This is to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations to keep records of our relationship, to resolve disputes or where it may be needed for future legal proceedings. After this time the information will be deleted in line with our data retention guidelines.

Yes, there is nothing for you to do, we automatically send donations you receive on your fundraising page to your chosen charity/charities each week. So the money you have raised is either already with your charity/charities or will be in the next week.
